Spanning drives / multiple sources

One key feature of the jukebox it's ability to take several sources of music (which may be on different drives or even over a network) and treat them as if you are browsing one collection of music.

For example you could have a MUSIC folder on your C drive with a Beatles folder and a MUSIC folder on your D drive with a Beatles folder. When you browse artists B and select Beatles you would see the contents both Beatles folders merged. This works for as many locations as you wish.

To understand this more look at 'How to set up'

Built in help

As shown below the top bar displays a small discription of the function of a button when the mouse is over the button. This particular example shows the tip displayed when the user moves their mouse over the one second sound fade button.

Tags

The jukebox has the facility to categorise your music, this is done via a simple tagging system. When you first install the software there will be no tags.

How to tag a track

While a track is playing it can be tagged. This is done by clicking the TAG button shown below or by pressing Ctrl+T. The Tag window will open. Once open either click the tag you wish to apply to the current track or type the first character(s) of the tags name and the system will predict which tag you wish to apply, once displayed press the enter key and your track will be tagged.

Creating a tag is also very simple. When the tag window is open type the name of the tag you want to create and press 'create tag'.

Once you have tagged some tracks you can load these into the playlist. See 'Playlist'

Whether tagging a track or loading in the entire tag into the playlist, the jukebox offers predictive results depending on the characters you have typed into the TAG window.

Favourites

The favourites is a playlist that can be loaded in via the playlist tab. To add a track to your favourites while the track is playing click the +favourites button shown below.

4 tabs: browse / find / rename / playlist

There are 4 main areas in the jukebox, these are accessed by clicking the tabs displayed below. Each of the four areas will be explained in more detail below.

Browse

The browse function is the primary method of locating an artist/track.

To find an artist click the first letter of the artists name and then click the artist name from the left hand column, all tracks associated with that artist will be displayed (this also displays the contents of all subfolders). Next click the song you would like to play, the popup menu below will appear allowing you to chose one of the functions.

Find / search

Find is a simple search function, that will search through all file names and display the results.

Enter the word you wish to search for and press 'search'. The results will be displayed and can then be played via the same popup menu as the browse feature.

Rename

Rename is a simple way of renaming tracks without having to use your operating system. While a track is playing click the rename tab, type in a new name and press ENTER or click rename file. (be carefull as you can not undo, unless you type in the previous name and press ENTER)

In addition to this the jukebox will offer some suggested names that you may wish to use, click one of these and then press ENTER to rename.

There is also the facility to import a text file with your chosen names. This is usefull for times when you may want to rename an entire album and you have got a tracklist from the internet. First import the text file and then load the album in to the playlist, you can then rename each track pressing skip to move to the next.

Playlist

The playlist allows you to preset the tracks that will play until the jukebox is quit or the playlist is empty. Once the playlist has expired the jukebox will continue playing random tracks.

Load TAG

Loads all the tracks from a particular tag in to the current playlist. Tracks will be added to the current playlist.

Load favourites

Loads all the tracks in your favourites into the playlist. Track will replace the current playlist.

Shuffle playlist

Will shuffle the playlist into a random order.

Clear playlist

Will empty the current playlist. If no new tracks are added the jukebox will play random tracks.

Save as favourites

Will replace your favourites with the current playlist permanently.

Clicking a track in the playlist will open the popup menu shown below.
